What is Safari?
Safari is a web browser originally developed by Apple for its Macintosh operating system that has since been extended to run on Microsoft's Windows operating system and Apple's hand-held iPhone. Safari was created to offer a distinct web browser for the Macintosh operating system. At one point, Apple's Macintosh computers came preinstalled with both Netscape Navigator and a custom version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser that was known for its incompatibility with Microsoft's primary Internet Explorer browser for Windows. Apple has subsequently replaced the preloaded third-party browsers with Safari in all of its installations and Microsoft no longer supports the Macintosh version of Internet Explorer.
