ARCHIVE / What is ActionScript?

ActionScript is a scripting language embedded in Adobe's, previously Macromedia's, Flash line of products. ActionScript was originally used to provide basic control over actions provided by the Flash media player but has since developed into a full-fledged scripting language to enable rich-media Internet applications. In terms of style and syntax, ActionScript is more or less based on ECMAscript and its related languages.
